Maurer selected
Steve Maurer was selected to serve as the State Executive Director (SED) for the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Ohio. Maurer began his official duties Sept. 8.

Before being appointed as the SED, Maurer served as the chief of the Division of Natural Areas and Preserves (DNAP) for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). He currently resides in Bexley, with his wife, Amy and their three daughters.

Lucas SWCD meeting & dinner
The Lucas SWCD will hold its annual meeting Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at Olander Park Nederhouser Community Hall, 6930 W. Sylvania Ave., Sylvania.

Guest speaker Steve Pollick, The Blade’s outdoor writer, will discuss “Going Wild - An experience of winter wilderness solitude in the Porcupine Mountains of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.”
