In addition to a barbecue chicken or pork chop dinner, the Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual banquet, set for Sept. 30, will include a performance by The Hot Air Buffoons.

The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds.

“Dinner and a Show” tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the district office, 240 W. Lake St. Oak Harbor.

The Hot Air Buffoons,” Randy, Harry, Mark and Denny, first hit the scene back in 1996. Combining their musical talent as well as their talent to make people laugh has netted them a number of awards over the years.

In addition, Chuck Schepflin, from Willy’s Sales and Service, will demonstrate chainsaw carving before the meal. The annual election will be held beginning at 5:45 and 6:45 p.m. and the “Cooperator of the Year” award will be presented to an individual who has shown outstanding conservation efforts.

For tickets or more information, call 419-898-1595.

Rain Garden Workshop
The Ottawa Soil and Water Conservation District, in cooperation with Schedel Arboretum and Gardens in Elmore, Erie-Ottawa-Sandusky Pheasants Forever Chapter and Naturally Native Nursery, will offer a pair of Rain Garden Workshops Sept. 22 at Schedel.

Participants will learn how to create landscaping areas that will help drain water after a storm event. Workshops will be offered at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The cost to attend the workshop is $12, payable in advance. Attendees will receive handouts and have time to stroll through the gardens. A rain barrel, valued at $80, will be awarded at each session.

Call Crystal Dymond at 419-898-1595 to reserve a spot.
