Volunteers in the Eastwood School District are preparing “health kits” to be sent to victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

The kits consist of:
1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 18" x 27").No kitchen towels
1 washcloth
1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
1 bath-size bar of soap
1 single wrapped toothbrush
6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages

The items can then be put in a zipper plastic bag.  Kits cost approximately $12.

More information about the relief effort is available at t UMCOR.org.

A box has been placed in the wrestling facility to hold the kits.

Donors may also give single items. Volunteers collecting the items will then sort them and fill them in with the other items needed.

License fees going up
The Ottawa County commissioners have agreed to increase dog license and kennel fees for 2011.

The commissioners last week authorized a license fee increase to $18 per dog and a kennel license fee increase to $90 effective Jan. 1, 2011.

Dog license and kennel fees for 2011 will be in effect Dec. 1, 2010 at the new fee schedule.

The increase was approved upon the recommendation of the dog warden.

Board to meet
The next regular meeting of the Woodmore school board will be March 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the elementary school conference room
