Commissioners organize for 2010

James Carter was re-elected president of the Wood County Board of Commissioners for 2010.

Tim Brown was elected vice-president. 

As president of the board, Carter will serve on the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) Board of Trustees, Growth Strategies Council, Maumee River Committee and Transportation Committee.   He will also continue serving on the county’s board of revisions, community corrections board, investment advisory committee, financial report review committee, family and children’s first council, records commission, and solid waste policy committee.

He also serves on the agriculture and rural affairs committee for the County Commissioners’ Association of Ohio.

Commissioner Brown will serve on the county’s automatic data processing board, courthouse buildings and grounds committee, investment advisory committee, and OSU Extension Service Advisory Committee

Brown will also serve as president of the Northwest Ohio Commissioners and Engineer’s Association and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the County Commissioners’ Association of Ohio.

Commissioner Alvin Perkins was selected to serve on the county’s emergency management agency advisory board, local emergency planning committee, court security advisory committee and the TMACOG Portage River Basin Council and Freight Committee.

The commissioners will continue to hold regular meetings on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with open forum on regular meeting days following regular business. The commissioners are also planning to continue hosting town hall meetings throughout the county.

Ottawa County appointments
The Ottawa County commissioners also prepared for 2010, approving appointments for several offices.

The commissioners re-appointed Jere Witt as county administrator and re-appointed JoLynn Hetrick as dog warden.

Ronald Lajti, Jr. was named as the delegate representing the county and Kelly Frey as the alternate to the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Government’s Environmental Council Committee.

Lajti will also serve as the county’s delegate to the TMACOG Portage River Hydrological Study Committee.


Board meeting
The Ottawa County Board of Developmental Disabilities will meet Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. at the board office, 235 N Toussaint South Rd, Oak Harbor. Meetings are open to the public
