First Defiance Purchases local Insurance firm
First Defiance Financial Corp. has announced that its subsidiary, First Insurance & Investments, Inc., has acquired Payak-Dubbs Insurance Agency, Inc., an independent property and casualty insurance agency with offices located in Maumee and Oregon.

The acquisition adds to the company's community financial services platform in northwest Ohio, southeast Michigan and northeast Indiana, which includes 33 First Federal Bank of the Midwest locations including those in Genoa and Oregon as well as the First Insurance & Investments offices in Defiance, Bowling Green, Bryan and Archbold.

"Payak-Dubbs has a strong community presence in both Maumee and Oregon," stated William J. Small, Chairman, President and CEO of First Defiance. "It has a solid base of clients that will be a good complement to our existing franchise. In addition, we believe that First Insurance's reputation of client service, combined with the additional resources we can offer, will benefit individual and business clients in the greater Toledo area."

Chris McIntire, President and Founder of McIntire Retirement Services, recently attended the Ed Slott Master Elite IRA meeting in Orlando, Florida. Slott is considered by The Wall Street Journal as “The Best” source for Individual Retirement Account (IRA) information and has been called “America’s IRA Expert” by Mutual Funds Magazine. He appears regularly on The Today show and has a television special on the Public Broadcast System (PBS) concerning IRA accounts and retirement.

McIntire has offices in Fremont and Perrysburg and resides in Woodville.

Open house
Pemberville Family Practice will host an open house Tuesday, 4 to 7 p.m. to introduce Dr. Cheri Diller to the community.

Pemberville Family Practice is located on the campus of Otterbein Portage Valley where Dr. Diller, a board certified family practice physician, is also the medical director.

•The Oregon Firefighters Local 4093 will host its inaugural golf outing Saturday, July 30 at Eagle’s Landing. The outing will raise funds to benefit MDA, St. Vincent Mercy Hospital Burn Unit, Secret Santa project, local food baskets for the holidays and the Rick Adams Memorial EMT Scholarship fund.
