New car sales for the seven auto dealers located in the Eastern Maumee Bay area increased 11.6 percent in 2010 compared to 2009, according to figures released by Autoview OnLine, a data firm that captures registration information from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
The seven dealers sold 2,910 vehicles last year compared to 2,607 in 2009.
Ford is the most popular badge at 1,394 vehicles, followed by General Motors at 1,044 and Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep at 472.
The Ford Fusion remains the hottest selling car at 261 units followed by Ford’s F-150 pick-up truck (242); the Ford Focus (210); the Ford Escape (205) the Chevy Silverado 1500 pick-up (187); the Chevy Equinox (152) and the Chevy Malibu (145).
Autoview statistics are compiled from the following dealers: Dunn Chevy-Buick, Genoa Chevrolet, Genoa Motors, Keller Chevrolet, Mathews Ford Oregon, Rouen Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep and Tri-Motor Sales.
Meanwhile, auto sales in Lucas County were up 5.3 percent from 18,997 in 2009 to 20,003 in 2010, according to figures released by Bernie Quilter, Lucas County Clerk of Courts.
Last year marked the first year new car sales increased in the county since 2002 when they totaled 30,477.
Brush changes name Brush Engineered Materials will change its name to Materion Corporation effective March 8, according to a company news release.
“Brush Engineered Materials has transformed over the past 20 years into a very different company from the metals, mining and specialty metals businesses that mark most of our heritage,” stated Richard Hipple, chairman, president and CEO.
Hipple stated the 80-year-old company has expanded into a global producer of advanced metals and services for customers in the electronics, telecom infrastructure, defense, energy, medical, science and industrial and commercial aerospace fields. Products include beryllium alloys and composites.
The company has annual sales of $1.2 billion and its stock will continue to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
The company is headquartered in Mayfield Heights, Ohio and has a plant in Elmore.
At the clubs The Eastern Maumee Bay Chamber of Commerce will host its annual State of the Communities breakfast Thursday, 7:30 a.m. at Lutheran Home at Toledo.
Governmental and economic development leaders from Oregon, East Toledo, Northwood, Jerusalem Township and Walbridge are expected to update members on progress in 2010.

Retirement Marian Austin will retire after 33 years at National Bank of Oak Harbor. Friday will be her last day. The bank also announced the appointment of Shannon Bloomfield as the successor to Austin. Bloomfield was hired in November.

Austin joined the bank in 1977 as a teller at the Oak Harbor office. She advanced to the new accounts desk and was promoted to assistant cashier. Austin transferred to the banks’ Curtice office where she was the assistant branch manager and named assistant vice president. She later became the office manager of this location. In 2000, Austin returned to the Oak Harbor office as a specialist in the loan documentation department, the position she will hold until her retirement.
Bloomfield began her employment as a loan documentation specialist in anticipation of Austin’s retirement. She also has experience as a customer service representative with other financial institutions.
