Schools & skills The Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its Leadership Academy to outline the requirements, expectations and practices associated with public service.
The 10-week course starts Monday, January 10 with David Civittolo, educator for the Ohio State University extension community development office, who will speak on conducting effective meetings. Other speakers include Matt Szollosi, speaker pro tempore of the Ohio House of Representatives, Tony Reams, president of the Toledo Area Metropolitan Council of Governments and Barbara Sears, state representative from District 46.
Classes are held Monday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. There is a fee.

Wade Kapszukiewicz, Lucas County Treasurer, will speak on the county land bank program, Thursday, January 20 at the Weber Block, Front and Main in East Toledo. The land bank will improve property values by allowing the county to purchase foreclosed tax delinquent properties and shorten the time it takes to sell them back to the public. It will also give the county the ability to sell vacant land to neighbors for one year’s back taxes.
