Genoa - The village police department has been investigating several reports of vandalism to area residences and vehicles involving the use of blue spray paint.

Most reports have been concentrated in the area of 5th Street, west to Buckeye Street, north to 9th Street and east to Washington Street, including the park structures.  The letters “FNS” along with a five-pointed star have been applied in blue spray paint to several properties.  “FNS”, the color blue and the five-pointed star stands for “Folk Nation Sign” a symbol of “Crips” gang activity, said Chief Randy Hill.

Pemberville  – The village police department is asking for information about the theft of a commercial deep fryer from the Pemberville American Legion property, East  Front Street.

The theft occurred around March 15, 2008. The Dean fryer weighs about 800 pounds, which would require someone with a large pickup truck to move, said Chief Richard Bingham. It was taken from the northeast corner of the American Legion property, he said.

Persons with information about the theft are asked to call police at (419) 287-3250. A reward is being offered.


Lake Twp. – Mikell W. Cronin, 22, Woodville, was charged Feb. 20 with theft and making a false alarm after allegedly leaving the Village Pub in Millbury without paying a tab.
• The Kalida Truck Equipment, Tracy Road, on Feb. 21 reported the theft of $400 in cash. Someone broke a glass door to gain entry.
• A front door of the East Suburban Animal Clinic, Woodville Road, was smashed Feb. 23. Nothing was reported missing.
• The Petro Truckstop on Feb. 25 reported a drive-off theft of $316 worth of diesel fuel.
