Hammond named humane officer
The Humane Society of Ottawa County has selected Denny Hammond, of Port Clinton, to be the county’s new humane officer.

Hammond left his position of three-plus years with the Humane Society of Sandusky County to work in Ottawa County. He was sworn in Sept. 19 by Ottawa County Juvenile Court Judge Kathleen Giesler.

Hammond will respond to and investigate reports of animal abuse and neglect throughout the county. He also will be responsible for looking into reports of sick and injured animals.

Hammond succeeds Nancy Silva, who retired this year.
