Seed for wildlife plots

The Erie-Ottawa-Sandusky Chapter of Pheasants Forever is offering a limited amount of free corn, sorghum, sunflower, millet and buckwheat seed for landowners in Erie, Ottawa, and Sandusky counties.

The seed is being made available for the establishment of food plots for wildlife, which must not be harvested, but left as a source of food and shelter for wildlife over winter. One bag of seed corn will plant approximately three acres, and one bag of sorghum seed will produce four acres of standing sorghum.

Sunflower, millet and buckwheat are in limited supply, so the quantity to be provided to landowners will be determined by the amount of requests the chapter receives.

Seed pickup will be made over a two-day period at locations to be determined. All orders must be made by April 10. Pick-up dates will be announced when the seed arrives in our area.

Since the free seed has had a high demand, it will be available first to EOS Pheasants Forever Members or supporters. To join or make a donation to the chapter, call Joe Uhinck at 419-898-1595.

To order seed, Sandusky and Ottawa county residents can contact Uhinck.
