Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Erika R. Avers graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tex.

Avers is the daughter of Tod Avers, of Elmore, and Dawn Avers, of Woodville. She is a 2009 graduate of Woodmore High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Benjamin J. Kania, son of Gwen Ellithorpe, of Genoa, and David Kania, of Millbury, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Kania is a 2009 graduate of Genoa Area High School.
