Cook finishes bowling career placing at state tourney

It was a special way to finish off a great career.

With her score of 511 last weekend at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl, Eastwood senior Hannah Cook finished 33rd out of 102 bowlers at the Division II state tournament.

Cook bowled a 158-161-192 to finish her prep career, one that saw help the Eagles win four league titles while dominating competition. In fact, Eastwood had a streak of 59 consecutive victories that was only recently snapped.

 
Howard first team All-ACC, gets Player of the Week

For the second consecutive season, Florida State senior forward Natasha Howard (Waite) has earned All-ACC First Team honors as selected by the Blue Ribbon Panel, announced on Tuesday by the league.

The first-team honor that comes in arguably the top conference in women’s college basketball adds another piece of history for the Toledo, Ohio, native. Howard’s selection to the 2013-14 All-ACC First Team makes her the first Seminole in the ACC era (1992-Present) to earn multiple first team honors. Last season, she was chosen for the first team by the Blue Ribbon Panel and second team by the ACC head coaches.

 
Clay’s team narrowly misses: Jody DeMeo, Amethyst Floyd qualify for state meet

Clay seniors Jody DeMeo and Amethyst Floyd competed in the individual state gymnastics meet Saturday at Hilliard Bradley High School.

DeMeo was in the all-around competition, and also as an individual in the beam and floor exercises. Floyd competed in the vault and bars.
