Eastwood bowlers begin trek to defend state title
The Eastwood girls bowling team, defending state champions, won the Fostoria sectional with a total score of 3,667. Their three games series was 2,612 and their six game baker series was 1,055.

Brandi Roller led the team with a 562 three games series, Mallory Fritz with 543, Mikayla Young with 539, Jessica Heestand with a 489, and Jessie Young with a 479.

The girls were to bowl in the District tournament at Interstate Lanes in Rossford on Friday, February 26. The top two teams out of 16 will advance to the state competition in Lancaster.

Joining the girls on the boy’s side at the District tourney were Eagle bowlers Tommy Blanchard and John Przybylski. The boys narrowly missed qualifying as a team for the District when they tied for the final spot and lost the tie-breaker.

State swimming
A number of local athletes were to participate at Nanin Auditorium in Canton this past Friday and Saturday at the state swimming and diving championships.

Six girls represented Oak Harbor at the Division II meet — Olivia Porter, Brielle Hanthorn, Marlee Carpenter, and Jenna Diekman were all guaranteed to compete at the highest level and Allie Dombrowsky and Danielle Franck also made the trip as alternates. Carpenter, Hanthorn, Diekman, and Porter are participating with the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams. Porter also qualified as an individual in the 50 freestyle

Other area state qualifiers include Lake sophomore Samantha TenEyck in D-II diving and St. Francis DeSales junior Dylan Szegedi, an Oregon resident, who is competing in D-I diving. From Eastwood, sophomore Nathan Decker qualified for the D-II state swim meet in the 500 yard freestyle.
