Owens College basketball player Brittany Darling (Genoa) of Owens Community College has been named Ohio Community College Athletic Conference Player for the Week.

Darling, a 6-5, center, scored 46 points and grabbed 33 rebounds in three games last week. She had seven blocks, three assists and one steal. She shot 19 of 32 (59.4 percent) from the floor and 8 of 16 (50 percent) from the charity stripe.

Clay returned from the Rogers Division I sectional wrestling meet with a team championship, exactly one week after the Eagle grapplers won the schools’ first City League title.

Clay junior Nick Garcia (38-8) reached the 103 final against Collin Jester (Mansfield Madison) by defeating Brandon Morelock (Bowling Green) 15-12.

By the time you read this, Waite's girls basketball team will have either reclaimed the City League championship or fallen short of its No. 1 goal.

Following Waite’s (14-4, 10-1) 73-60 win over Central Catholic (10-8, 9-2) in the CL semifinal Wednesday, the Indians and Coach Manny May had no idea what was about to transpire in the CL final Saturday at the Sullivan Center against top-seeded Start.
