The Civilian Marksmanship Program at Camp Perry in Port Clinton will honor the sacrifices made by veterans of all conflicts Monday, July 7 at 10 a.m. at the marksmanship competition’s First Shot ceremony.

Scheduled to appear, weather permitting, will be a WWII B-25 bomber from the Yankee Air Museum in Willow Run, Michigan and a WWII Navy Avenger torpedo bomber from the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton. In addition, military vehicles parade alongside the ranges toward the crowd. Re-enactors in WWII uniforms will ride within the vintage vehicles.

Mud Hens’ Mike Hessman breaks IL home run record
Toledo Mud Hens third baseman Mike Hessman hit homerun number 259 over the left-field wall at Victory Field in Indianapolis landing him in the history book for all-time home runs in the International League. Hessman broke Ollie Carnegie's record, who hit 258 home runs with Buffalo between 1931 and 1941, and 1945.

That includes Schmeltz, his assistant, former Northwood head coach Dave Russell, and another assistant, Eastwood alum Thomas Schmeltz.
