Students in the Exercise Science Program through Penta Career Center are trained in the area of fitness training and athletic training. Students learn how to wrap wrists, ankles and other parts of an athlete that are prone to sprains. They are also trained in emergency procedures.
Students are in the classroom for two and a half hours each day. Part of the school day is spent in the classroom doing all their required academic classes and classes that help out with the field they are going into. The majority of the time is spent in a lab working on all types of projects.
These projects include rehabilitation, treatment, fitness testing, weight management and also injury prevention.
There are quite a few career opportunities for students in the Exercise Science Program. Students can become a part of a fitness center, health and wellness centers, sports facilities or possibly rehabilitation facilities. With extended education, this program helps students prepare to become a personal trainer, physical therapist assistant, certified athletic trainer, physical therapist, occupational therapist, certified occupational therapist assistant, exercise physiologist or a recreational therapist.
The students in this program say they enjoy their field of study and love Penta.
“I really feel like going to Penta has helped me prepare for my future. I will leave Penta with a lot of experience in the field that I want to go into,” said senior Penta student, Cameron Kutchenriter.
