Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway will continue their cooperative spirit in 2012, when both tracks will incorporate transponder scoring for all divisions.
Attica’s weekly Friday night events include winged 410 sprints, winged 305 sprints, UMP late models and dirt trucks. Fremont’s weekly Saturday night events include winged 410 sprints, winged 305 sprints and dirt trucks.
The cost if a race team chooses to purchase the transponder unit is $235 which includes the transponder, charger, orange protective pouch and shipping. The rental fee is $5 per night. Both tracks will incorporate the Westhold system (yellow transponder) that is used by the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions.
Late Models and Dirt Trucks can purchase the direct battery wired version (the Orange transponder) for $200.
Both tracks tested the transponder units toward the end of the 2011 season and they held up well, according to track officials.
“The transponders can help reduce scoring errors and help speed up the night’s program. We will still use human scorers as a back-up. The scorers at both tracks do an excellent job…it’s a very difficult task to hand score and these ladies have carried out their task in a professional manner for many, many years,” said Attica Director of Operations Rex LeJeune.
Ross Paulson, who has volunteered for several seasons helping with line-ups, scoring, track point systems, sponsorship, etc., will be in charge of the transponder program and has the units available for sale.
Attica Raceway Park’s 2012 season opener is just a few months away and the 21-race schedule looks to be packed once again with exciting sprint car and late model racing.
Season passes to “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speed plant are now on sale. The $300 passes – a $350 value – is good for all events including the four UNOH All Star Circuit of Champion events (Spring Nationals in April, Ohio Sprint Speedweek in June and the Attica Ambush in September), the World of Outlaw Sprints on June 1; the American Late Model Series and the DirtCar UMP Late Model Hell Tour in July. The season passes include admission into the exciting weekly events and all FAST events.
Race crews can also purchase a season pit pass at just $450 – a $550 value. Race fans can also reserve their seat for the exciting racing action in 2012 by purchasing a skybox at the top of the main grandstands.
