Sheehy got off to a quick start by defeating his first three opponents with two falls and a major decision. Sheehy lost to eventual tournament champion and Michigan state runner-up, Detroit Catholic Central's Kevin Beazley, in the semis and a Medina Highland wrestler in the consolation semi-finals, but rebounded with a strong victory in the finals for a fifth place finish. Sheehy finished with a 4-2 record on the weekend.
Breakout freshmen Jay Nino lead his freshmen classmates Brandon Bates and Louis Cutchall as each recorded victories in the tournament.

Nino who lost his preliminary match in the opening round, battled his way through the consolation bracket by rattling off four consecutive victories and defeating No. 3 seed, junior returning state placer Tyler Beck of Columbus Northmoor, by a score of 11-6.
