Track season doesn’t start until spring, but numerous athletes are getting a head start on the season by competing in indoor track. The Woodmore team trains every Tuesday and Thursday in the weight room to get in top shape for the upcoming season.
“I wanted to compete in indoor track so I don’t have to catch up to others during the season. It will be great to have my conditioning already in check so I can focus on the things that will allow me to win even more races,” said senior Taylor Avers.
Avers is not the only one who feels like competing in indoor will greatly help her during the spring season.
“Starting to train now helps to improve everything from the strength part to the throwing and technique side of things,” said junior Megan Pendleton.
Pendleton also said she competes during indoor so she can get more exposure from college programs in hopes of earning an athletic scholarship.
“The more track related activities I do, the better my chances are of preforming higher to improve my chances of getting a scholarship,” added Pendleton.
