Genoa will induct five individuals and two teams into its athletic hall of fame at the football game October 25. Inductees include—

Alex Quinones (1979) — wrestling — 1979 SLL champion, sectional and district champ, Third Team All-Ohio. Quinones had a career record of 62-9.

Robert M. Tank (1941) — community award — 3-year football lettermen, team captain, 1940. Tank was a U.S. Air Force (1943-45) B-24 commander with 30 missions, based in Italy. He is the owner of Tank Motor Sales, retired in 1981. Tank established two scholarships at GHS and is a charter member of the Genoa Area Education Foundation.
Dean A. Lowe (1959) — coach/teacher — GHS basketball, track, and football player from 1956-69. Lowe graduated from Defiance College (1963). He was a teacher and coach at Genoa Junior High from 1963-96. Coached football 23 years, was athletic director 12 years, and track coach 11 years.

Curt Vogelpohl (1998) — golf — He was a four-time SLL team champion (1994-97) and was a three-time First Team All-SLL selection (1995, 96, 97) and First Team All-District in 1997. He had a career match record of 452-97-22. Holds GHS records for lowest single season match average (37.91) from 1997 and career match average (39.93).

Michael Cicak (1998) — golf — Like Vogelpohl, Cicak was a four-time SLL team champion (1994-97) and was a three-time First Team All-SLL selection (1995, 96, 97). Cicak was SLL medalist and SLL Golfer of the Year in 1996 and 1997, First Team All-District in 1997, and had a career record of 497-97-26.

The 1992 Genoa track team — finished second at regional and second at state — the highest team finish in school history. Members included Bill Werner, Jason Balduf, Pat Jones, John Elmers, Jeremy Zenz, and coaches were Dave Miller and Chris Haeft.

The 1990 Genoa boys cross country team, which had a dual record of 15-0 and season record of 157-3, were SLL and District champions, finished second at regional, and third at state. In the final state coaches poll, the Comet harriers were ranked first. Members included Jake Truman, Jeff Harrison, Pat Jones, John Scheffer, John Elmers, Jeremy Zenz, Chris Lau, Bill Werner, David Karl, and Tim Wyse. Coaches were Dave Miller and Chris Haeft.

A dinner will be held the day after the induction, beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. Former inductees are encouraged to attend. Tickets are $25. Call Mike Thomas at 419-855-7781, ext. 18.

Hidden Hills Golf Course experienced what may be a course record — nine holes-in-one in a single golf season, says course management with two more aces on consecutive days last week. First, Doris Incledon of Perrysburg aced the 145-yard No. 14 with a 2-iron, then the next day Scott Market, also of Perrysburg, followed on the 171-yard No. 16 with a 5-iron.
