Hard work, donations, and volunteers have helped to make the memory of one special couple last throughout the ages at the Eastwood School district.
Through the organization of Marcia Mazur, not only has the outside of the football stadium and wrestling building been landscaped, but a bench has been placed in the area to honor the memory of Margaret and Warren Krukemeyer, who were long-time ticket sellers for many Eastwood football and basketball games.
“They were just really dedicated people who loved the school and especially seeing the kids at these events,” Mazur commented on the couple.
With donations for the bench coming from the couple’s son, John Krukemyer, the bench was purchased from Select Stone, a company that specializes in hard-scaping projects.

“The bench really is beautiful,” Mazur commented. “We just wanted something out there that would really honor these people for all their hard work and years of service to our school.”
This whole project came to life when Mazur noticed the outside of the football stadium and wrestling building needed a bit of help and landscaping.
Tom Oberhouse of North Branch Nursery generously donated 20 shrubs and mulch to help design the area. Wolf’s Blooms and Berries and Scott Abke, owner of All About Lawns, also contributed mulch and plants for the project.
“That’s the great thing about this community,” said Mazur. “When we ask for help for a project, people are willing to step up and donate what is needed and lend a helping hand.”
Making it a true community effort, the junior and senior vocational agriculture students then volunteered their time and effort to help plant and transform this area into an area Eastwood can be proud.
