Henderson placed in starting role at Old Dominion East Toledo native Jacob Henderson (Central Catholic) may be 3-10 at the 197 pound weight class wrestling for Old Dominion University, but he’s already been thrown into the fire as a starter as a freshman.
Henderson won a 3-1 decision over Matt Berretta (Binghamton), a 3-2 decision over Mike Lukowski (Northern Illinois), and a 5-3 decision over Tanner Kriss (Indiana).
At the Southern Scuffle, Henderson defeated Kriss before bowing out with a 5-2 loss to Navy's Greg Prioleau. The Southern Scuffle and Midlands Invitational were held over Christmas break at the Greensboro Coliseum and Northwestern University.
Old Dominion dropped its final non-conference match of 2010 at American, losing 23-15 in Washington D.C. No. 19-ranked Daniel Mitchell (AU) won a major decision over Henderson, 10-2.
At Central, Henderson was a three-time City League champion, two-time district and sectional champion, and two-time state runner-up. He earned a fourth place finish at the NHSCA championships in 2010 and was ranked in the top 20 nationally by USA Wrestling magazine. He set a school record at Central for career wins (146) and also was a four-year letter winner in football for the Fighting Irish.
