Pemberville Methodist is in first place at 11-1 after three weeks of play in the Wood County Dartball League.
Pemberville Presbyterian and Stony Ridge are tied for fourth at 7-5, and Zion Luckey is tied for sixth with New Rochester and Bowling Green Trinity United Methodist at 6-6 in the 12-team league.
Results on October 25 were BG Cloverdale (5-6-2) at Pemberville Methodist (6-17-5) – first game (10 innings); Luckey Salem (3-1-1) at New Rochester (0-4-9); Zion Luckey (2-4-3) at BG Nazarene (7-3-0); Pemberville Presbyterian (4-12-8) at Stony Ridge (2-6-1); Pemberville Bethlehem No. 1 (2-7-2) at BG St. Mark’s (3-3-1); BG Trinity United Methodist (9-2-9) at Pemberville Bethlehem No. 2 (2-1-10) – third game (12 innings).
BGTUM’s Ivan Carter hit three home runs in the finale against Bethlehem No. 2. However, B-2, down 9-2 heading into the last of the ninth, rallied for eight runs and the victory. B-2’s John Keiser had a grand slam in the final inning uprising.
B-1 hit the DP square a total of five times (none of which counted) in its opening-game loss at BGSM, including a remarkable three straight batters in the sixth inning. B-1 added a DP that counted in the second game for good measure.
On Oct. 18, trailing 4-2 in the top of the ninth of game one, B-2’s John Keiser hit a three-run HR that proved to be the game winner. Keiser finished the night with three HRs. SR was held to just 12 hits in its two shutout losses including five in the first game. B-1 won the third game with a bottom of the ninth HR.
On Oct. 11, Salem’s Bob Dierker led his team going 8-for-12. All of his hits were doubles. Roger Kahlenberg paced B- 2 with a 10-for-14 effort, including six triples, one HR, and 10 RBI.
On Oct. 4, B- 2’s John Keiser hit back-to-back HRs in game three against ZL. He followed a two-run HR with a three-run dinger helping his team to an opening-week series victory over the defending league co-champs. (results submitted by Mark Kunstmann)
