Ashley Madison leads Tiffin to Heidelberg championship
Tiffin University cross country runner Ashley Madison (Oak Harbor) finished in ninth place with a time of 13:17 at the Heidelberg Opener.

Tiffin won the four-team event with 36 points, claiming the top two individual finishes and three top-10 finishers overall. Heidelberg took second with 47 points, followed by a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-foes in Lake Erie College (66) and Ohio Dominican (72).

At the 20th Annual Friendship Invitational at Cedarville University, Madison took 73rd with a time of 21:26.83, averaging 6:54.2 per mile. Tiffin placed sixth among 12 teams.

University of Findlay junior cross country runner Jordan Kirwen (Gibsonburg), a two-time cross country qualifier and state track qualifier while running for the Golden Bears, placed 82nd out of 288 runners participating at the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State University.

Also at Findlay, 5-foot-5 senior midfielder Megan McCracken (Eastwood) appeared in all 18 games on the college’s soccer team as a junior last year, and this year she is listed as a senior on the team. The Oilers have a 4-1-1 record on the season with a 4-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Findlay, coming off of an injury plagued 5-11-2 mark during the 2009 season, was picked to finish tied for second in the GLIAC South Division. The Oilers received one first place vote and a total of 11 points in the poll to tie with Ashland. Both programs trailed Tiffin who received three first place votes and 14 total points.

Last year, McCracken scored two goals. As a sophomore, she appeared in five games, made four starts, and had one assist. As a freshman, she appeared and started in all 18 games, led the team with eight goals, finished second on the team with 18 points, made two assists, and scored two game-winning goals.

While at Eastwood, McCracken was named third team All-Ohio twice, named Mid-Suburban Soccer League Player of the Year and was a first team all-conference selection.
