Bethlehem No. 2 (25-8) took sole possession of first place with its three-game sweep of Zion Luckey (22-11). Bethlehem No. 2 scored a league evening-best 23 runs. ZL’s 11 runs were its second-lowest total of the season.

Bethlehem No. 2 extended its winning streak to a league high 14 games. Bethlehem No. 2 and ZL will conclude the season with a three-game set in Luckey. ZL had not been swept since losing three one-run games at Bowling Green Trinity United Methodist on Nov. 26, 2007. 

Stony Ridge (24-9), which entered play Monday with a share of first, dropped to second place despite winning twice. SR trails first-place Bethlehem No. 2 by one game, and now holds a two-game advantage over ZL. Pemberville Methodist (20-13) and BGTUM (20-13) are the other league teams to have won 20 games through the midway point of the season.

 

December 14 results (Week No. 11) were BG Cloverdale (5-3-2) at Salem (1-7-1); Pemberville Presbyterian (0-5-5) at Pemberville Methodist (7-4-2) – 2nd game (12 innings); New Rochester (1-6-6) at BG Nazarene (2-2-0); Stony Ridge (5-2-9) at BG St. Mark’s (4-4-2); BG Trinity United Methodist (11-2-6) at Bethlehem No. 1 (3-8-5); Zion Luckey (2-6-3) at Bethlehem No. 2 (7-9-7).

Trailing BGTUM and PM in the standings are BG St. Mark’s (19-14), Bethlehem No. 1 (19-14), Pemberville Presbyterian (13-20), New Rochester (11-22), BG Cloverdale (10-23), BG Nazarene (8-25), and Salem (7-26).
