The Toledo Walleye welcomed Olympic Hero and former Toledo Goaldigger Mike Eruzione for his first visit to the new Lucas County Arena downtown. The appearance comes nearly 30 years after Eruzione helped Team USA win the gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, N.Y. and over 7,000 fans warmly welcomed his arrival. In this photo, East Toledo resident R.J. St. John, son of season ticket holder Ray St. John, is at the Walleye game celebrating his birthday alongside Eruzione. R.J. is wearing a Toledo Goaldigger jersey (signed by Eruzione in 2005) that Mike Greeder gave to him at the Goaldigger’s 25-year anniversary game at the Toledo Sports Arena in 2005. The Walleye defeated Elmira that night, 5-1.
