Darling continues scoring tirade — Owens now No. 7

The Owens Community College women's basketball program moved up one spot

to No. 7 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Div. II rankings this week. Over the previous two weeks, the Lady Express were planted in the No. 8 spot.

Owens is 9-2 on the season. Leaders for the Lady Express this season are:

Sarah Clark (Delphos St. John's) - 12 pts, 10.5 reb, 2.1 ast, 1.6 steals per game; Brittany Darling (Genoa) - 13.8 pts, 8.6 reb, 2.6 blocks per game; Jasmine Blanton (Notre Dame) - 17 pts, 3.7 reb, 4.2 ast, 1.9 steals per game; Demi Moschetti (Perrysburg) - 8 pts, 5.6 reb, 1.2 blocks per game.

Owens women's basketball defeated St. Clair County CC, 85-71. St. Clair moves to 5-2.

Leaders for Owens were: Blanton - 26 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal; Clark  - 15 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal; Moschetti - 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist, 1 block; Darling  - 10 points, 5 rebounds; Nasumbi Beard (Ontario) - 6 points, 8 assists, 3 steals.

 

The next games for the Lady Express are:

Dec. 16 vs. Alpena CC at 2 p.m.; Dec. 18 @ Mott CC at 6 p.m.; Dec. 19 vs. Jackson CC at 1 p.m.; Dec. 29 vs. Lake Michigan CC at 7 p.m.; Dec. 30 vs. Glen Oaks CC at 7 p.m. The team opens conference play Jan. 9 vs. Cincinnati State CC at home.

Owens men's basketball defeated Schoolcraft by a score of 107-76. Owens is now 4-5 on the season. The next game for Owens is Dec. 12 in the Kalamazoo Valley Classic, Michigan.

Leaders for Owens were:

Jonathan Dunn (St. John's Jesuit) - 26 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists; Josh Robinson - 21 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds; DaLante Heard (Rogers) - 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals; Derrick Sanderfer Jr. (Rogers) - 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals.

Owens men's basketball lost to St. Clair County Community College 96-93. Leaders for Owens were:

Earl Hardison - 33 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals; Josh Robinson - 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals; Dunn - 18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals; Michael Lee - 8 points, 4 assists.

The Owens men and women traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana to take on Indiana Tech and the Owens women won 85-67, and the Owens men won 89-55.

Leaders for Owens men were Heard - 5 pts and 11 rebounds; Robinson - 23 pts, 9 rebounds, 6 steals; Hardison - 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists; Dunn - 27 points, 20 rebounds, 3 assists (20 rebounds ties the school record for most in one game).

Leaders for the Express women were Rashanna Johnson (Columbus Whitehall) 6 pts, 3 steals, 2 assists; Moschetti (Perrysburg) - 11 pts, 5 reb.; Blanton - 14 pts, 11 assists, 4 steals; Clark - 10 points, 7 rebounds; and Darling - 17 points, 11 rebounds.
