Fremont Speedway handed out awards and prize money to the drivers who finished in the top 10 in points in the 410 sprints, 305 sprints and dirt trucks at a packed banquet on Saturday, Nov. 21.
Crowned champion in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 sprints is Liepsic, Ohio's Todd Heuerman.
2. Paul Weaver from Fremont, Ohio. The two-time Fremont 305 sprint champion competed in all 17 A-mains recording an astounding 15 top 10 finishes. He scored 6 top 5 runs, including three wins - on July 4, July 18 and the NRA 305 challenge on Aug. 15. Finishing just one point behind champion Todd Heuerman, Weaver also scored a runner-up finish.
His average A-main finishing position was 7th.
3. Stuart Brubaker from Helena, Ohio. The 2008 Fremont champion competed in 16 of the 17 A-mains, missing only the May 23 feature.
Brubaker recorded an incredible 14 top 10 finishes and 8 top 5 runs. He posted two wins, on May 30 and the nonwing feature on June 27. He also had three runner-up finishes and two third place runs. His average A-main finishing position was 6th.
4. Nate Dussel from Bradner, Ohio. Last year’s rookie of the year competed in 16 of the 17 A-mains, missing only the Sept. 26 show when he let his brother run his car. He scored 9 top 10 finishes and 6 top 5 runs. Dussel posted wins on July 11 and Aug. 1. His average feature finishing position was 8th.
5. Bobby Clark from Fremont, Ohio. Clark competed in all 17 A-mains in 2009, recording an incredible 11 top 10 finishes and 7 top five runs.
He scored wins on May 2, June 6, Sept. 19 and Sept. 26. His average A-main finishing position was 9th.
6. D.J. Foos from Fremont, Ohio. Foos, in his second year of sprint car racing, competed in 16 of the 17 A-mains, recording 10 top 10 finishes and 6 top five runs. He had a season-best pair of second place finishes while maintaining an average feature finishing position of 8th.
7. Steve Rando from Lindsay, Ohio. Rando competed in 15 of the 17 A-mains in 2009, recording 11 top 10 finishes and 4 top five runs. His season best was a third on May 2. Rando's average A-main finishing position was 10th.
8. Jimmy Colvin from Bellevue, Ohio. This second-year driver competed in 16 of the 17 A-mains, missing only the Sept. 19 feature. He recorded
7 top 10 finishes and 5 top 5 runs, including a season-best second at the 305 sprint invitational on Sept. 6. His average feature finishing position was 11th.
9. Bill Kraylek from Fostoria, Ohio. Kraylek competed in 16 of the 17 A-mains, missing only the May 2 event. He scored 8 top 10 finishes and 3 top five runs, including a win on opening night, and a runner-up finish on July 11. Bill’s average feature finishing position was 10th.
10. Chad Wilson from Toledo, Ohio. Wilson competed in 12 of the 17 A-mains in 2009. He scored 3 top 10 runs and a pair of top 5 finishes including a season-best pair of fourth place runs. His average feature finishing position was 12th.
Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks
2. Art Ball from Tiffin, Ohio. The all-time feature winner at Fremont showed no signs of slowing up in his 48th year of racing. The 71-year-old competed in all 14 A-mains posting an incredible 11 top 5 finishes. Take out a pair of 20th place finishes and an 18th place run, and the worst Art finished in a feature was eighth. He opened the season strong, not finishing out of the top three from April 18 through June 6. Ball scored a win on opening night and had three runner-up runs and five third place showings. His average A-main finishing position was 6th.
3. Bob Dible from Fostoria, Ohio. Dible also competed in all 14 A-mains in 2009, recording an incredible 10 top 10 finishes and 8 top 5 runs.
He scored two wins in 2009 - Sept. 6 and Sept. 18. His average A-main finishing position was 8th.
4. Jim McGrath from Clyde, Ohio. The 2008 Fremont Speedway champion competed in all 14 A-mains this season, recording 8 top 10 runs and five top five finishes. He scored two wins - on May 9 and July 11.
5. Jimmy McGrath Jr. from Clyde, Ohio. He competed in 13 of the 14 A-mains, missing only the opening night feature. He recorded 11 top 10 runs and 6 top five finishes including a season-best runner-up finish on June 6. His average feature finishing position was 7th.
6. Loren Schwochow from Fremont, Ohio. Schwochow competed in 13 of the
14 A-mains, missing only the Sept. 26 show. He scored 6 top 10 finishes and a pair of top five runs, both 5th place finishes in the opening two nights. His average A-main finishing position was 10th.
7. Will Tezak from Toledo, Ohio. Tezak competed in 12 of the 14 A-mains, missing only the May 30 and Sept. 26 shows. He scored 7 top 10 finishes and a pair of top five runs including a season-best second on Sept. 6. His average feature finishing position was 10th.
8. Steve Sabo from Fremont, Ohio. A three-time truck champion, Sabo competed in 12 of the 14 A-mains in 2009, missing only the July 4 and Sept. 26 features. He scored 9 top 10 runs and a pair of top 5 finishes including a season-best 2nd on July 11. His average feature finishing position was 9th.
9. Brian Sorg from Fremont, Ohio. Sorg competed in 13 of the 14 A-mains, missing only the July 11 show. He scored 5 top 10s and three top five finishes including a season-best third on opening night. His average feature finishing position was 11th.
10. Dan Hennig from Castalia, Ohio.Hennig competed in 12 of the 14 A-mains in 2009, scoring 10 top 10 finishes and 8 top fives. He scored three wins in 2009 - June 6, July 18 and Sept. 26. Had he not missed the opening two races of the season Hennig may have finished a lot higher in the standings. His average A-main finishing position was 5th.
