"On the Line. . .with Coach Tim Spiess."

Genoa’s offensive line has allowed only four sacks in two years ( 24 games) and paved the way for another 1,000-plus yards rusher. Line coach Tim Speiss talked about their success in a recent interview.

Kody Vincent, C, 6-0, 230 lb Sr. "Kody Vincent has done a tremendous job in making himself into the best center in the SLL. His physical transformation from his sophomore year, to his senior year, will be a story I will tell all my underclassmen until the day I retire."

Brad Szypka, LG, 6-2, 225 lb Jr. "Brad is one of my top three guards, and he's a junior. I believe I can substitute in Brad, (starting RG) Andrew Hayes, and #56 Casey Wojciechowski in at any time, and our level of play should stay the same."

Jake Schreuder, T, 5-7, 223 lb Sr. "Jake Schreuder scored a 34 on the ACT. I had an NCAA D-I offensive tackle who could have played anywhere in the country, but he chose to go to Harvard, and graduated with honors. He scored a 33. So, obviously Jake's future is a very good one. He's a very unselfish leader, that our younger players emulate."

Jon Lester, LE, 6-3, 200 lb Sr. "Not only are Jon Lester and Richard Wonnell the best blocking duo I've ever had, they're also the best individuals. I have had four blocking tight ends who were All-Ohio, and two started for NCAA D-I schools. Jon and Richard are better."

Andrew Hayes, RG, 6-0, 260 lb Jr. Schreuder on Andrew: "Hayes is probably our biggest offensive lineman all-around. He hits hard when he pulls, and he's built like a fullback. That's what we need. . .big guards who have that athletic ability to pull."

Luke Sutter, T, 6-2, 240 lb Jr. "Luke is one of the best athletes on our team, and he is the most athletic tackle in the SLL. He has great leverage points, confidence, and intelligence." Luke on Coach Spiess: "Man, does he know how to coach! But as good of a coach as he is, he's an even better man. Every week, he helps me connect with God through readings he gives us, or by just talking with me. He's helped me so much."

Richard Wonnell, RE, 6-9, 235 lb Sr."Richard Wonnell is tied for the best blocking tight-end I have ever coached in my 26 years as an "O"-line coach. He is tied with his teammate. . .Jon Lester."

Schreuder on Richard: "Obviously everyone knows him for being so skinny, and for being 6-9. But the kid's a phenom when it comes to blocking. The way we're graded on the line for our blocking. . .a "1" is like a 7-0 season effort, a "2" is a 10-0 season effort, and a "3" is the best. We've only had two "3's" all year. Richard got them both."

Coach Spiess on the Unit as a Whole: "The most important attribute of any offensive line is intelligence under pressure. The second most important is unselfishness. The third is trust. This group has all three."
