Tyler Ault and Trevor Ault led Defiance College to one of its finest tennis seasons in school history.
Together, the two former Clay athletes racked up 61 victories, help lead the DC team to third place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, and garnered All-HCAC honors.
Tyler Ault (captain) was named to the First Team All-HCAC squad, after leading the Yellow Jackets from the top singles and doubles positions throughout much of the season. He posted a combined 26-19 mark and went 9-6 in league action at the top of DC’s lineup. Ault anchored the team and highlighted his season with a HCAC Player-of-the-Week honor on March 3 after winning at No. 1 singles and doubles in a 6-3 victory against Adrian.
Trevor Ault, a freshman, made his mark on the HCAC during his first collegiate campaign as an Honorable Mention All-HCAC selection. He was the only freshman in the DC starting lineup. Ault closed the season on a 17-match win streak in singles play at the No. 5 position and led the squad with a combined 35-9 mark, a DC record of most wins in a season. He went a perfect 15-0 in league action play. This undefeated in league action DC record was previously set by Tyler Ault in 2006.
The Yellow Jackets are looking to build on the winning season. They are set to return four of six starters next year with Tyler Ault and Trevor Ault included to lead DC in 2010.
