Clay obliterated nine other teams in scoring during the Division I sectional tournament, which the Oregon school hosted.

Clay won first place in 11 of 14 weight classes, and had someone place at every class.

Clay scored 320½ points to nearly double up runner-up St. John’s Jesuit (166). Whitmer (143) was third, followed by Springfield (132½), Sylvania Southview (115½), Sylvania Northview (99), Waite (89), St. Francis DeSales (71½), Start (32) and Bowsher (21).

Clay sectional champions included freshman Nick Henneman (106 pounds, 28-11 record), senior Aaron Henneman (120, 31-11), senior Jared Davis (126, 21-6), junior Richie Screptock (132, 40-8), senior Gavin Nelson (138, 35-6), sophomore Zach Brown (145, 31-14), junior Andy Howard (152, 23-13), senior Nick Stencel (160, 35-5), sophomore Matt Stencel (182, 33-5), junior Tyler Koester (220, 30-11), and senior Antonio Zapata (285, 34-12).

Other Clay placers included sophomore Evan True (17-13), second at 113; senior Andrew Dickens (12-12), fifth at 170; and junior Kevin Witt (12-9), third at 195.

Waite junior Krys Young (38-3) won the 113 pound weight class championship.

Other Waite placers were junior James Johnson (29-11), third at 152; senior Roquit Jackson (20-17), third at 220: senior Talmage Jones (27-13), fifth at 132; senior Elias Moreno (31-10), fifth at 138; freshman Dalton Rameriaz (16-21), fifth at 160; sophomore Lucy Carmona (0-14), sixth at 120; and freshman Josh Kendall (27-12), sixth at 170.

The top four wrestlers qualified for districts and any fifth place wrestlers were alternates.

In the D-III sectional at Lake, Genoa won with 198 points, Woodmore (163½) was fourth, Eastwood (136½) fifth, Gibsonburg (102) sixth, Lake (76½) ninth, Northwood (40) 10th, and Cardinal Stritch Catholic (22) 13th of 15 teams.

Northwood junior Devon Dunbar (32-8) finished first at 126 and freshman Bradley Meeks (13-20) was third at 113. Cardinal Stritch Catholic junior Ricky Pratt (14-16) finished fourth at 182 and junior James Dobson (16-7) was fifth at 170.

Waite freshman Josh Kendall, in control here, placed sixth at the Division I sectional meet.
