 The Little Sisters of the Poor are calling out the dogs for the 2008 Dog Days of Summer Festival, which will be held Sunday Aug. 3 at the Sacred Heart Home for the Elderly, 930 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon.
The festival, which is held in celebration of man’s (and woman’s) best friend, will be held from noon to 6 p.m.
This year’s event will feature the ever-popular Pooch Parade at 4 p.m. Participants can walk their costumed dogs for $5 or enter a float made out of a cart or wagon for $10.
There will also be a Pooch Party Store, Doggie Day Care, and of course, the “Nun Better” dog biscuits made by the sisters, residents and staff of the Sacred Heart Home will be available.
Don’t have a four-legged friend? No worries – a dog is not required to enjoy the afternoon of family fun including bingo, kids’ games and music by Cruisin’ Zeke and His Oldies Machine.
Those attending should bring their appetites because a variety of tasty treats will be available, including hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue chicken, French fries, ice cream and more.
This year, there will also be an arts and crafts fair. A 12 x 12 space is available for a rental fee of $25.
There will also be a raffle with a grand prize of $1,000. Tickets are $5 each, six for $25 or 12 for $50.

Proceeds from the event will help the Little Sisters continue their work of caring for the elderly poor in Northwest Ohio.
