Celebrate Mother Earth at the zoo’s Party for the Planet

They’ll be talking trash - along with recycling, conserving, etc., at this year’s Party for the Planet at the Toledo Zoo, set for Saturday April 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Zoo visitors will celebrate Mother Earth and learn how to “go green” through educational displays and activities.

Thanks to Lucas County Solid Waste Management and Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful, the zoo will once again be collecting recyclable items including aluminum cans, microwave ovens, cameras, MP3 players, cassette tapes, cell phones, power tools, CD/DVD players, printers, computer keyboards and mice, scanners, copiers, shredders, desktop computers and monitors, televisions, fax machines, telephones and other household appliances.

Items will be accepted in the zoo’s main entry plaza off the Anthony Wayne trail. Admission to the zoo is not required to drop off e-waste.

In addition to recycling, there will be other conservation-themed areas throughout the zoo. Learn how to be a better neighbor to backyard wildlife, save the rainforest, and conserve the Great Lakes and their watersheds. Stop by for animal demonstrations and a variety of activities from local organizations, and don’t miss Fisher-Price® Planet Heroes Ace and Digger.
