Providing care with confidence

More and more people are caring for their sick, frail or debilitated loved ones at home.

Because many feel ill prepared to meet the challenges of providing hands-on care, Hospice of Northwest Ohio is offering a two-hour workshop to teach family caregivers the basics. This much-needed program is being offered several times a month and is free to anyone in the community.

Workshop Enhances Skills
Through discussion and interactive demonstrations conducted in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio skills lab, family caregivers will learn tips to enhance the way they provide these care needs:

• Bathing
• Oral care
• Positioning
• Back rubs
• Transfer techniques
• Making an occupied bed
• Ambulation
• Feeding
• Incontinence care
• Hand hygiene
• Skin care
• Nail care
• Foot care

Workshops are open to anyone in the community and will be held several times a month, based on need. To allow active participation, class size is limited to six and pre-registration is required. Those interested should call 419-931-3408 to find out when and where the next class is being offered, to ask questions or to register.
