Terra Announces Fall 2011 Phi Theta Kappa Honorees
Twenty-two Terra State Community College students have been accepted into membership by the Alpha Mu Epsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, a national two-year college honor society.

Thee students will be inducted next spring along with spring term honorees. Local honorees include Sonia Fermoso and Jeanine VanDerLaar, of Helena; Brielle Lowry, of Elmore and Shelie Suto, of Woodville.

Phi Theta Kappa recognizes and encourages scholarship among associate degree students who are invited to membership on the basis of scholarly achievement, leadership, citizenship, character and faculty recommendation.


Marching Eagles Take 1st at O.H. Apple Festival
The Eastwood High School Eagle Marching Band placed first among marching bands at the 2011 Oak Harbor Apple Festival Parade, held Saturday Oct. 8. This is the seventh year in a row the band has placed first or won the Mayor's Award Trophy.


Tri-M Honor Society inductees
The induction and installation of officers ceremony for Eastwood Tri-M Music Honor Society Chapter #5458 was held Oct. 02 at the Pemberville Opera House. 

The following students were inducted as new members: Kelsey Ault, Colleen Baker, Kayla Bierley, Melissa Bolton, Ellie DeFiesta, Abby Hosley, Kelsey Long, Abby Stephens, Haydan Stone, and Kylie Twining.

Continuing members are KirstenBorcherding-Jacobs, Dakotah Cox, Treasurer, Calee Gaskins, Rochelle Hufford, Vice President, Brianna Moore, Secretary, and Alisha Sanders, President.

Tri-M, a program of the National Association of Music Education, was founded in 1936 to recognize outstanding students in the areas of music achievement, academic performance, service, leadership and character.


Summer Pinning Ceremony Honors
More than 30 Owens Community College students were recently bestowed honorary pins by the School of Nursing for their academic achievements specific to the practical nursing certificate.

The pinning ceremony is part of a traditional nursing practice, which honors students prior to beginning their careers within the health care community.

Among the honorees are were Alicia Konoff and Angela Murphy of Northwood; Ashley Poiry of Oregon; Stacy Franklin of Luckey; Brook Frasure of Millbury and Andrew Hitchen of Genoa.

University of Cincinnati: Alexis Marquette, of Elmore; Brenda Barton, of Oak Harbor.

The Ohio State University: James Gallaher, of Toledo; Brian Laster, of Oregon; Kerri Shaffer, of Elmore.
