Dave Harms, a social studies instructor at Penta Career Center was recognized by the Penta Board of Education and administration at the Dec. 9 board meeting for being one of five finalists for the 2010 Ohio Teacher of the Year award.

The results for the Ohio Teacher of the Year are expected to be announced this month. Ohio Teacher of the Year is an Ohio Department of Education program that honors, promotes and celebrates excellence in teaching.

Harms, of Walbridge, has taught social studies at Penta since 2002. He was the recipient of the 2009 Penta Teacher of the Year Award and received a $10,000 A+ for Energy Grant from BP in 2008.
