Gibsonburg exhibit showcases works of local sculptors

Twenty-eight sculptors from Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania will display 33 sculptures around a lake in Gibsonburg for a year, beginning Saturday, June 10.

The sculptors, ranging in age from 22 to 24, include well known and respected local artists such as Mike Sohikian, Tom Lingeman, Emanuel Enriquez, Shawn Morin and James Havens, as well as talented emerging artists whose works hold their own in the second annual show.

The sculptures as a group display a stunning variety of materials, technique and subject matter, and their setting in Williams Park, on either side of a broad circular path, affords easy viewing.

The public is invited to a reception for the artists June 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rose Foundry, 211 Cedar St., Gibsonburg. Four awards will be given – the Mayor’s Award, People’s Choice, Gibsonburg Community Corporation Award and Toledo Area Sculptors guild Award.

For more information about the exhibit, contact curator Jim Havens at 419-849-3048 or Lexi Staples, assistant curator, at 419-367-2971.
