Ohio Department of Job and Family Services statistics show that the state’s unemployment rate is down – 8.1 percent in December, down from 8.5 percent in November and 9.5 percent a year earlier.

Nonetheless, many Ohioans are entering 2012 unemployed, or under-employed. Many are also looking to make a career change due to economics or dissatisfaction.

Annual College Goal Sunday set for Feb. 12
Terra State Community College and Owens Community College will host College Goal Sunday, a statewide college financial aid event, Feb. 12.

The free event, presented by the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA) and endorsed by the Ohio Board of Regents, assists students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the federal application that is required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant and student loans as well as the need-based state grants.
