Hospitals see renovations, new technology, accolades in 2011

The area’s two hospitals focused on adding new programs and technology, and improving facilities and services in 2011. Highlights include:

Mercy St. Charles
• In April, the hospital opened an on-site Podiatry Clinic, working with Northwest Ohio Foot and Ankle Group.

Oak Harbor, Woodville draw new businesses to town

Owners of the new Beekeeper Inn in Oak Harbor hope the restaurant becomes a “destination steakhouse.”

Mark Kohn and Peggy Dennis, of Graytown, took over the historic hotel at the corner of Water and Church streets in downtown Oak Harbor, previously the home of Oak Harbor Hotel and Bad Bob’s Barbecue restaurant. The closed on the purchase in March and have been working to refurbish the building.

Pemberville - Village welcomes $2.5 million wastewater treatment plant

Pemberville welcomed Gordon Bowman as the new mayor and new council persons Eileen Schuerman and Randy Rothenbuhler at the first meeting in January.

Council honored former mayor James Opelt and councilman Christian King for their years of service at a reception following the last meeting in December. Opelt served two four-year terms and did not seek re-election in November.
