Ribbon-cutting planned for Lake Towne Senior Village

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly constructed Lake Towne Senior Village, located at 4975 Lake Towne Dr., Walbridge, will be held Jan. 21 at noon. Tours of the facility will be offered through 3 p.m. 

The ribbon-cutting event has been rescheduled from its earlier date in December when the event was canceled due to inclement weather.

Older Ohioans offered free legal help

Almost half of older Ohioans who needed some type of legal help in the past three years gave up and did nothing about their problems because they didn’t think they could afford a lawyer, according to a survey of 12,000 Ohioans age 60 and older which was conducted by AARP in collaboration with Pro Seniors.

“The survey results reflect what we encounter daily on our legal hotline,” said Pro Seniors Executive Director Rhonda Moore. “We see a growing trend in the need for help with health care coverage along with consumer and housing issues.”

New units in the works at Riverview Healthcare Campus

The New Year is bringing big changes at Riverview HealthCare Campus in Oak Harbor.

A former 10-bed hospice/palliative care unit is being renovated to become the Cottage Cove Rehab Center, a short-stay rehabilitation unit that is slated to open Feb. 16. Riverview plans to continue to accept palliative patients and follow the hospice philosophy in all areas of the building, according to Kimberly Geldien, public relations coordinator for the facility.
