opportunity to learn about how service dogs are trained and assist those with mobility problems.

Clyde and Nathalie Givens, representing the Assistance Dogs of America, Inc. located in Swanton, brought Bronco, a black Lab, to help with the demonstration. Don Stull, ElderCollege liaison who provides a foster home for Jada, a Golden Retriever, offered attendees examples of the dogs’ training and showed how the canines may assist the handicapped.

ADAI incorporates positive training methods to achieve the desired results and actions from the dogs. After two years of training, the dogs will then go into service with a handicapped person.
