Otterbein Portage Valley host musician Eduard Klassen
Members of the community are invited to enjoy a musical treat of Christian instrumental music this spring as harpist and speaker Eduard Klassen performs with a Paraguayan folk harp March. 19 at 7 p.m. at Otterbein Portage Valley, 20311 Pemberville Rd., Pemberville.
The free event is open to the community, as well as Otterbein residents, family and friends. There will be a freewill offering. RSVP to 419-833-7000 or 800-749-4950.
Klassen is a Paraguayan folk harpist, now living in Canada, who has presented more than 3,000 music concerts in 20 countries since making a personal commitment to Christ. A typical concert presentation by Eduard Klassen includes a variety of Christian harp music from South America, North America and Europe, interspersed with personal testimony and stories of God’s work in his life, from boyhood in the wilderness of Paraguay to the present. Valentine’s party set
The East Toledo Senior Activities Center will hold a Valentine’s Day Party Feb. 12 at 12:30 p.m.
The party will include light refreshments, games and prizes. The cost is $3 per person. Reservations are required by Feb. 9.

The East Toledo Senior Activities Center is accepting donations of spring and summer clothing for all ages, as well as household items, toys and games, knick-knacks, etc.
Donations may be brought to the center at 1001 White St., in the Navarre Park Shelter House. Those who are unable to bring the items may call Brenda at 419-691-2254 to arrange for a pick-up. Donations may be tax-deductible.
Seniors plan activities
The Ottawa County Seniors Activities Committee met Jan. 7 to plan events for the new year.
The seniors’ cookbook, “Oldies But Goodies II,” is currently in the works. Recipes will be accepted through Jan. 31 and can be submitted to any of the six senior sites or by mail to “Oldies But Goodies II,“ 912 Glendale Dr., Port Clinton, OH 43452. Pre-paid reservations and gift certificates for Oldies II are also being accepted at the senior sites. Oldies II will be available by Senior Day at Camp Perry early in May.
March 15th has been scheduled for “Pot of Gold Game Day and Potluck.”
Sunday, April 19 is the date for the second annual countywide Big Band dance, “Spring Into Happiness II” featuring the 17-piece big band, “Night Session.” As in the past, the dance will be held at Community Markets VFW Memorial Hall, Oak Harbor.
Spring Senior Day at Camp Perry, Senior Day at the Fair, Mud Hens games and Senior Chili Cook-off and Barn Dance are a few of the events planned for 2009. Details will be announced as events are developed. For further information call Ottawa County Senior Resources 419-898-6459.
