The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting area residents to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
The Toledo Walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Lucas County Recreation Center. Registration begins at at 12:30 p.m. and the Walk will begin at 2:30 p.m. The event offers participants the chance to learn about Alzheimer’s disease and how to get involved in the cause – from advocacy opportunities, the latest in Alzheimer’s research and clinical trial enrollment to support programs and services. There will also be a ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
Statistics show that Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.
“There has never been a greater need for the citizens of Toledo to join in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Salli Bollin, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter. “Funds raised will provide care and support services to over 38,000 residents of Northwest Ohio living with Alzheimer’s, while also contributing to advancing critically-needed research.”
