(NAPSI)—Every year, millions of aging Americans experience physical, financial and emotional abuse. It is estimated that up to 10 percent of people aged 65 years or older have experienced some form of abuse. However, experts suggest that only one out of every 14 incidents ever comes to the attention of authorities.

Just when you thought that a family caregiver’s job couldn’t get more difficult, consider this: Many of the households caring for a senior in Ottawa County are trying to help an aging relative who’d rather not have help. 

A study of family caregivers who responded to a survey on, conducted for the Home Instead Senior Care® network, revealed that more than half of the respondents (51 percent) said that their aging relative was very resistant to care. These seniors often object to help, whether it’s from a family caregiver or a professional who tries to come into their homes to assist.

Orchard Villa to showcase renovations, expansion June 26

On June 26, Orchard Villa, a 164-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center located in Oregon, will hold an open house to showcase recent renovations to the facility and an expansion of the rehabilitation area. Members of the community are invited to tour the facility between 1 and 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

The renovations at Orchard Villa, which has been serving the health care needs of the community since 1996, were designed to accommodate the ever-growing needs of residents in need of short- and long-term care services, according to Rey Nevarez, administrator.
