the chores that some Sandusky County senior citizens 60 years and over can access through the Chore Service provided by WSOS Senior Services. “We really want to help those seniors who have no other way of getting some of their chores done,” said Todd Robinson, WSOS Senior Services coordinator. “Some seniors are physically unable to do some of the chores around their homes and since our goal is to keep seniors in their homes as long as possible, we want to do what we can to help.”
For seniors to access this service, which will cost them nothing, hey have to be income eligible and be homebound. Monthly income guidelines include: Single-person household - $1,805 per month; two-person household - $2,428 per month; three-person household - $3,052 per month; four-person household - $3,675 per month.
To ensure the safety of the seniors who request this assistance, the services are conducted by contractors from a list approved by the Ohio Department of Office of Community Services. These contractors must have a signed contract with WSOS Community Action Commission, proof of insurance, a signed W-9 form, three references and a copy of their Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation document before they can provide any service at the home of a senior in this program.
