The Area Office on Aging will host its 4th annual Caregiver Expo Saturday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In America, one in four persons is caring for his/her mother, father, spouse or other loved one. In honor of National Caregivers Month, The Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc. will sponsor the expo to help caregivers with information and encouragement in fulfilling their daily caregiving tasks.
Local caregivers will be honored for their selfless acts of kindness for their loved ones. At last year's event, two caregivers were honored.
Daris Dolan, of Toledo, cares for Michael Kulczyk who has cerebral palsy. Also honored was Lin-Yen “Laurine” Chang, of Sylvania, who cares for her mother who lives with dementia, diabetes, extreme back pain and other serious illnesses.
Every caregiving situation has different challenges and rewards. Caregivers may be struggling to balance the competing demands of caring for a loved one and managing a career. Caregiving responsibilities do not always fit in neatly after a day of work, however, it is possible to balance these often-competing tasks.
