was selected by The Center for International Comparative Education (ICE) at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) to participate in the 2010 Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad (GPA) Program to the country of Jordan.
This month, Harms is in Jordan to study the country’s culturally diverse population and its immigration history. He and his group will visit the Wadi Rum, a desert region in the southern part of the country, as well as other historical, cultural and religious sites such as the Dead Sea, Jerash, Petra and the Red Sea. Upon his return, Harms will infuse Near East learning in the areas of “People in Societies” and “Citizenship Rights and Responsibilities” for Ohio content standards and into BGSU’s undergraduate and graduate education programs so that both students and other teachers can benefit.
The GPA program is made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to The Center for ICE at BGSU. Harms will be traveling with three Northwest Ohio school teachers, five graduate students and three undergraduate students from BGSU.
