Oregon students make NDA Dance Team
Two local young women were among the students who made the Notre Dame Academy Dance Team. Eastwood students inducted
Eastwood band directors Brian Myers and Matt Safford, along with vocal music director Jennifer Conklin announced that the following students were inducted Sept. 20 into the Eastwood chapter of the Tri-M International Music Honor Society: Megan Boyk, Josh Carr, Erin Dennis, Paige Lembke, John Rose, Sean Sabiston, Alysia Shaffer, Kari Stoner, and Greg Zink.
Second-year members include Jessica Bradley, Marissa Borcherding-Jacobs, Mallory Fritz, Jimmi Gangwer (vice president), Kerri Gangwer, Brad Goltz, Alexis Lahey, Ashley Marsh (president), Matt McCracken, Emily Nelson, Kevin Rahrig, Michelle Renollet (treasurer), Jessica Schulte, Chelsie Sheline (secretary), Rebecca Shirling (historian) and Gret Witker. The ceremony was followed by a dessert reception courtesy of the Eastwood Band Boosters.
Tri-M, a program of the National Association of Music Education, was founded in 1936 to recognize outstanding students in the areas of music achievement, academic performance, service, leadership and character.
Volley for the Cure
The Owens Community College volleyball program is encouraging area residents to help in supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the organization’s efforts in the fight against breast cancer by making a donation during the Express’ home match against Lorain County Community College Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. in the Student Health and Activities Center.
Admission to the home match is $3 per person ($1 for students). All proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure initiative. Admission tickets also serve as raffle tickets that offer a chance to win the evening’s pink game ball signed by the Express volleyball team. Additional fundraisers will be conducted throughout the evening, including a bake sale and a silent auction.
