Ted Williams could take lessons from Justin Lau

There are several reasons why Genoa senior outfielder/pitcher Justin Lau is chasing a Suburban Lakes League batting crown this season.

“For one, he has a real good eye at plate,” first-year Comets coach Dan Thompson said. “He has a nice swing, and he can take a pitch to right field and can put it in all fields. He’s a disciplined hitter and he hits the pitches he needs to hit. He doesn’t swing at bad pitches. He waits for his pitch.

“He’s also one of my best base runners. He’s a very instinctive base runner. Justin is also a very good defensive player. Has a good arm and good range in center field.” Read More . . .

Kevin Leady’s pitching helps Falcons sweep Bobcats

Bowling Green pitcher Kevin Leady (Eastwood) started the second game on the mound in helping the Bowling Green State University baseball team earn a 3-2, 7-5 doubleheader sweep of Ohio University in games two and three of three-game weekend series at OU's Bob Wren Stadium.

With the two victories, the Falcons earned their second MAC weekend sweep of the season and their first series sweep of the Bobcats in Athens since 1976.

The right-handed senior Leady (3-4) worked a solid five innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and earning the win. More from the Press Box . . .
