Assistant Fire Chief Ellis fights to keep position

Councilmen last week raised concerns over Fire Chief Bill Wilkin’s recommendation to Mayor Marge Brown to suspend and demote Ed Ellis, assistant chief of Fire Station No. 3.

Ellis, who has been with the fire department for 40 years, allegedly pressured a captain to deduct $20 from his pay as dues for the Oregon Fire Association in violation of department rules. It is also alleged Ellis did so on city time, and got into a verbal altercation with the captain. Read Full Story


Local equine athlete gives back to the community

Jordyn Pedigo, 15, of Oregon, is making huge strides in both the equestrian sporting world and with helping to make the lives of physically challenged individuals more enriching.

A sophomore at Clay High School, the young lady has been busy riding in equestrian events around the United States as well as serving as a trainer at Vail Meadows Equestrian Center, in Oregon.
